The Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation is dedicated to raising critical funds to support the top priority needs of the Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS). The BCHS serves Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and surrounding areas.
The BCHS Foundation is committed to the responsible stewardship of donations entrusted to us, and to ensuring those funds are directed where they are needed most at the BCHS, Brantford General Hospital, and the Willett, Paris.
Did You Know?
Many people believe that healthcare is “free”, and the government provides all the funding hospitals need to operate. However. there is actually no ongoing commitment of funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to acquire the capital equipment and upgrade the technology needed each and every day at the BCHS.
The BCHS Foundation is responsible to bridge this funding gap locally through donor dollars. Your meaningful support of the BCHS Foundation helps us purchase patient equipment, renovate patient care areas, and puts the necessary tools in the hands of healthcare workers and caregivers in your neighborhood.
Over the last five years, the population of Brantford/Brant County has grown at a rate of 10.8% and continues to climb. Our 20 year growth rate is projected to be 36.8% according to the Ministry of Finance summer 2023 release. People are choosing Brant County, Brantford, and surrounding areas to live and raise their families, and our hospital facilities are not equipped to accommodate growth at this rate.
As the cost of medical equipment and services increases, the need for community support continues to grow. Recently work was completed on five different Diagnostic Imaging rooms at the BCHS, and the construction of a new Pediatric Acute Referral Service clinic. We are thrilled to see the successful completion of these projects, and our caregivers now have expanded capacity to serve our community. In addition, work continues on the renovations of our Emergency Department.

The renovation of the current Emergency Department at the Brantford General Hospital is expected to nearly double it’s footprint . The new, modern space will lead to improved flow, increased capacity, assist with decreasing wait times, improve privacy and confidentiality and ensure infection control protocols.
Under the province’s funding model, the BCHS Foundation must pay 10% of all construction costs (the “local share”) for the renovation of the Emergency Department. In addition, funds must be raised for the purchase of all medical equipment, furnishings and fixtures for the renovated Emergency Department – these are not covered or cost shared by the Ministry of Health.
