On Wednesday, June 27 Marilyn Sewell was presented with a framed print by the BCHS Foundation Board of Directors during the 2018 BCHS Foundation Annual General Meeting, celebrating eight wonderful years of service to the Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation.

Marilyn has been an active member of the BCHS Foundation Board of Directors since 2010, and her tenure at the Board table helped to develop her vision and focus her desire to positively engage the community and spread the importance of community support for local healthcare.

Part of the Board’s succession planning is to provide members with the opportunity to serve in different positions, and Marilyn was approached by the incoming chair in 2012 to serve as Treasurer. From there she served through the executive before becoming Chair in 2015 for the 2015-16 fiscal year.

Marilyn describes the responsibilities of an effective BCHS Foundation Board member as ‘sharing Board meetings so that fellow volunteer members feel their time was well used, positively contributing to the due diligence process of overseeing the great work happening at the BCHS Foundation and to be an ongoing, reliable source of support for the BCHS Foundation staff.’
