Grateful Patient: Hillary Miles-Smiley, The Willett, Paris

Hillary Miles-Smiley_withson_HaydenNothing is more urgent than the health of your family. The Willett, Paris provides our local community with an Urgent Care that can help provide immediate treatment for your common ailments.

Peace of mind is what Hillary Miles-Smiley recalls from her multiple visits that she has had to The Willett, Paris Urgent Care. Most recently, she went to get help for her youngest son, 15-month old Hayden.

On Monday, November 16th, Hillary arrived at her daycare provider to pick up Hayden. The daycare provider mentioned a white mark on Hayden’s tongue and upon closer inspection Hillary recognized that this may be ‘thrush’. Hillary took her son straight to The Willett, Paris Urgent Care.

Upon arrival, Hillary recalls how the staff at the reception desk were incredibly friendly and helpful to them.

“We didn’t have to wait long,” Hillary said. “We were triaged and seen by Dr. Michael Pysklywec and back home in just over an hour.”

After assessing Hayden it was confirmed that he did have thrush, a common infection caused by candida fungus, also known as yeast. It presents as creamy white curd-like patches on the tongue and inside the mouth and back of the throat.

Hayden was given a treatment plan of anti-fungal medication and was told that if there wasn’t improvement in 48 hours, to follow-up with a medical professional.

“Our family has been treated by Dr. Pysklywec on more than one occasion in Urgent Care and he has always been thorough and taken the time to answer any of my questions,” said Hillary.

Hillary reflects on how important it is to have a resource in our community that you can quickly get the healthcare answers you need, or simply feel reassured.

“For a mom, it’s that confidence that when you are there, you’ll receive the medical attention your child needs,” Hillary said. “I continue to go to The Willett, Paris because my experiences have always been positive and my family has received quality care.”

Often, it is the small, common ailments that are seen at The Willett, Paris such as coughs, colds, minor lacerations, strains and sprains.

“Though our reasons for visiting the Urgent Care, Paris may be more common, we were treated well and quickly,” said Hillary. “I really appreciated how the nurses made my son Hayden feel more comfortable during our visit.”

The equipment supported by donor dollars isn’t all ‘nice to have’—it is critical, much-needed medical equipment required to perform daily diagnostics and care for patients.

As Hillary and her family has learned first-hand, when crisis or illness impacts you or a loved one, the Brant Community Healthcare System is here to offer you exceptional healthcare in your time of need.
