PPE Donations COVID-19

Donations of Personal Protective Equipment and other Materials for COVID-19

Thank you for considering the Brant Community Healthcare System and generously thinking of creative ways to assist amidst the COVID-19 crisis. We are grateful to the many members of the community that have already and continue to step forward with offers of personal protective equipment (PPE) for our staff and physicians.

We are working swiftly to ensure donations are being dealt with in a timely manner.

Please note the following considerations regarding donations at this time as we must ensure that donations meet national standards for PPE use in a health care setting.

Facemasks and Shields

  • At this time, we are only able to accept unused, unopened N95 masks (even if expired), KN95 face masks,  surgical/procedural masks, Health Canada approved plastic goggles and visors for use by the staff at the BCHS.
  • We cannot currently accept hand-sewn fabric masks.
  • We cannot currently accept 3D printed headbands for visor shields.
  • We are accepting donations to the COVID-19 Fund to help purchase additional masks through suppliers at a reduced cost, visit www.bchsdonate.com to help.

Gloves

  • We are currently accepting unused, unopened and unexpired medical grade nitrile gloves.

Other

  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Handmade Fabric Scrub Caps
  • Tyvek Suits

Food

We appreciate everyone who has reached out with offers of providing food to the frontline workers. Please note any donations of food must meet the following criteria.

  • Food must be prepared in a licensed kitchen by individuals with safe food-handling certification
  • Food handlers must not have any symptoms of COVID-19
  • Food items must be individually wrapped
  • Food needs to be easy to distribute to individuals
  • The BCHS must be aware the food is arriving

Toiletry Kits

As this crisis unfolds, having these kits available for staff who may need or want to shower after their shift is helpful to the frontline workers. These single use toiletry kits would be given to these individuals and would ideally include shampoo/conditioner, hair elastic, body wash, and lotion.

  • unscented products are prefered
  • new/unopened single use bottles are required
  • presented in a sealed ziploc bag for easy distribution

Please feel free to include a note of encouragement or support for these frontline workers.

Again, thank you to all who have reached out to donate to BCHS during this time. We are truly touched by the generosity of the community!

Although some items may be accepted, monetary contributions are of greatest assistance to help purchase items of greatest need to serve our patients. A COVID-19 fund has been set up to make this possible
