Hockey Challenge teams victorious in battle for men’s health
Annual event concludes with record donations to BCHS Foundation
The 2017 BCHS Foundation Hockey Challenge concluded Mar. 1 with an outstanding grand total of $3,270 raised in the month of February for men’s health patient equipment at the Brant Community Healthcare System – over triple the previous year’s total.
Thank you to Brantford NBC Hockey League and all of the teams and players that contributed to this year’s goal.
2017’s Hockey Challenge asked local Open and Old-Timers league teams to support men’s health and raise money towards the purchase of two Ultrasound Transducers and four reusable Prostate Biopsy Guides for the Brantford General.
Players enrolled in the Hockey Challenge beginning Feb. 1 seeking donation pledges from the local community. The program continued through the month of February, with the highest grossing team announced as the winner on Mar. 1.
Congratulations go out to Van Farms – the overall winning team in the 2017 BCHS Foundation Hockey Challenge – with an amazing grand total of $1,065 in donation funds raised.
Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation Board of Directors First Vice-Chair Chris McCurdy was on hand Mar. 1 to celebrate with the winning team at the Wayne Gretzky Centre, as the team presented a cheque to the BCHS Foundation on behalf of the Brantford NBC Hockey League.
Local schoolteacher Jeff McKay was drawn as the lucky player from the winning team set to receive two Platinum-Level tickets to a Toronto Maple Leafs game versus the Florida Panthers. Congratulations Jeff!
