Pediatrics at the BCHS – Pediatric Acute Referral Service

Emergency Care for Kids at the Brant Community Healthcare System

“The Emergency Department at BCHS sees over 8,000 pediatric patients annually. The Pediatric Acute Referral Service (PARS) was built on a commitment by BCHS Pediatricians to provide timely and high quality care to patients closer to their own home.” explains Dr. Sarangan Uthayalingam, Consultant Pediatrician at the Brant Community Healthcare System and Regional Director, MacCARE.

“The PARS clinic serves the entire Brant-Haldimand-Norfolk region, as well as Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.” adds Dr. Uthayalingam. “Community emergency departments, walk in clinics, and family physicians are able to refer children requiring urgent specialized treatment to our Pediatricians at the BCHS PARS clinic, to be seen either same day and no later than 48 hours. This allows our youngest patients to receive the critical care they need, right here in the community.”
