Michaels and Starlight Foundation making young patients smile

Michaels Brantford store manager, Karen Peters, surprised our BCHS Pediatrics department nurses on Friday with a donation of 25 ‘Michaels Backpacks’ containing art and craft supplies.

Michaels Backpacks is the result of a partnership between Michaels Canada and the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada in celebration of National Volunteer Week.

Each Michaels Backpack contains an assortment of items including colouring and sticker books, Play Doh, felt and gem stickers, double sided tape and two packs of coloured markers all packaged up in a drawstring bag.

The backpacks are extremely useful tools for many departments at the Brant Community Heathcare System, but particularly in the Paediatrics department, where the distraction offered by art and craft supplies can often make a hospital visit significantly less stressful for our younger patients and their families.

Thank you Michaels Brantford and Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada! Your thoughtful and generous donation will help our patients cope with their hospital visits!

Together, we are transforming healthcare in our community!
