Emergency Care Fund
The BCHS needs donations to support the purchase of new and replacement patient equipment in the ER to ensure life-saving technology and resources are available to our community.
- Treating more than 45,000 patients annually, our Emergency department is staffed with highly skilled, specially trained medical professionals.
- Patients present at the Emergency Department doors with a variety of medical conditions including severe respiratory issues, cardiac episodes, and trauma. These conditions are life-threatening and require immediate medical attention.
- The ER at the BCHS is responsible for up to 60% of all patient admissions to the BCHS; 20 percent of our patients are paediatric and another 20 percent are considered senior. The majority of patients that require admission are respiratory related illnesses.
- As a designated stroke centre, the BCHS is also home to some of the best stroke intervention strategies in the province, supported by a skilled group of physicians and nurses with access to state of the art diagnostic technology, including our new 256 slice CT Scanner.
